Work Experience – What Skills Recruit Looks For
While work experience is an important factor, Skills Recruit understands that not every
candidate will have extensive international or high-end hotel experience. We assess
each candidate based on a combination of skills, attitude, and potential.
Here’s how work experience is typically considered:
Preferred
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in hospitality roles.
- Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or similar service settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
However, We Also Consider:
- Candidates with less experience but strong training, certifications, or internship background.
- Those with transferable skills and a willingness to learn and grow in the industry.
- Fresh graduates of hospitality programs or vocational training schools who show commitment and adaptability.
To be assessed as a suitable candidate for hospitality roles in Australia through Skills
Recruit, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Relevant Qualifications or Training
- Completed training or certification in hospitality, culinary arts, food & beverage, housekeeping, or related fields (as applicable to the role).

3. Good Work Ethic & Attitude
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a customer-focused approach.
4. Health & Character Checks
- Ability to pass a medical examination and police clearance as part of the employment and visa process.
